Contestants must always follow the proper chain of command. If a problem occurs, the contestant is to go to the student event director or adult event director, who will go to arena director who will go to the judge, if necessary. No parents are part of this chain of command. No contestant or parent may talk directly to the judge, unless a contestant is approached by a judge.
Winning Information
At each District 8 Rodeo, points are awarded to the top ten in each go-round and the average winners. Cash payouts are awarded to the average winners in each event, the amount of payout is depending upon number of contestants entered.
The point system for both the go-rounds and the average will be as follows:
1st- 10 pts 6th- 5 pts
2nd -9 pts 7th- 4 pts
3rd- 8 pts 8th- 3 pts
4th - 7 pts 9th- 2 pts
5th- 6 pts 10th- 1 pt
California High School Rodeo's Challenge of Champions Invitational Rodeo is held each March in Plymouth California. Every district sends its top 3 competitors to compete in this exciting rodeo. Eligibility will be determined at the end of the February rodeo. Contestants in this rodeo will be competing for weekend awards and scholarships only (no district points are earned).
District 8 Yearend Banquet is sometime after our last District rodeo where year-end awards will be given out to the top placings. The number of placings is dependent upon the number of contestants in each event. One award placing for every four contestants in each event. High School All Around saddles will be awarded to the top All Around Cowgirl and Cowboy. Also, All Around Rookie (first year contestants) Cowgirl and Cowboy will be awarded. Several high school seniors will be awarded scholarships.
State Finals District 8 team for both Jr. High and High School will be determined by year-end points. The top 5 in each event will qualify and compete at CHSRA State finals for a spot on the California High School National Team. The top four in each event after state finals will have earned a spot on the National Team.
After our CHSRA D8 Finals Rodeo, those who placed 6th through 25th are eligible for Silver State International Rodeo. Entries and information will not be provided, information for this is available online at www.ssir.us
